Wired Music: Duffy is Back with ‘Stepping Stone’

By Alyk | August 6, 2008

Welsh soul-singing sensation Aimee Duffy released another single from her stellar disc, Rockferry. “Stepping Stone” is bit different her impossibly catchy first single, “Mercy,” but it’s worth checking out.

In other Duffy news, the 24 year old announced she’s tired of people comparing her to another 24 year old soul singer: Amy Winehouse. Although the two women share a similar style, Duffy said that’s where the similarity ends.

“It makes me mad that people keep comparing me to Amy Winehouse. It’s just labeling me as something else, without any respect for the struggle, the determination, focus or artistic vision I have.

“It’s like, ‘Whoa, what’s that about? Why would I want to be someone else?’ Because I really don’t. I just want to be me.”

Luckily, her life doesn’t involve crack and incarcerated husbands. I hope that ensures a second disc from the talented Miss Duffy.
