Wired Music: Amy Winehouse Wants Revenge
By Alyk | August 13, 2008
Although Jack White and Alicia Keys finished recording the new James Bond theme song, Amy Winehouse has a song of her own in mind for the “Quantum of Solace.” Amy told New Magazine that producers of the film made a huge mistake when they passed her up for Jack and Alicia’s song, “Another Way to Die.” The dejected singer said she received the snub because they wanted something “clean-cut and boring.”
Producer Mark Ronson got Amy into a recording studio last spring to work on the Bond song, but quickly pulled the plug on the sessions after declaring Amy “not ready to work on music yet.” Amy disagreed, choosing to record the track by herself. She claimed she wants to prove to Mark and the producers they “made a big mistake.”
“I do think they could have waited a bit. If they want a worldwide hit, I have them all up here [pointing to her beehive].
“I guess they are going for clean-cut and boring. When I do release mine, and I am tempted to do it on the same day, this would be the bigger hit. If they change their minds, I’m waiting!”
The film is set to be released in the UK on October 31. We can expect to hear at least one of the theme songs shortly before the film’s release.
