Imaginary Bitches: Jessalyn Gilsig Exclusive Interview
This week on “Imaginary Bitches” Eden continues her quest to discover whether or not she is into women. Of course her bitches are there to guide her.
A fan of the show and guest star Jessalyn Gilsig also shows up to sabotage Eden’s date. This Canadian born beauty has burst onto the scene with her roles on “Boston Public” and “Nip/Tuck.” Jessalyn has ventured into the world of Eden and her imaginary friends. She was kind enough to answer a few of my questions.
Cara Harrington: As one of the friends of Eden that actually exists, what do love most about the show’s premise of bitchy imaginary friends?
Jessalyn Gilsig: Well, Eden. I love the ways she has made the imaginary characters real to us now. I think the idea of inner critical voices, inner bitchy voices is totally relatable. It’s so brilliant to have those thoughts vocalized through Eden.
Cara: Did you ever have imaginary friends when you were younger?
Jessalyn: I absolutely had tons of imaginary friends as a kid. Although now that I have a daughter and I can observe her, I’m not sure if my friends were imaginary, or if after a certain age, we just can’t see them anymore…
Cara: Do you think Eden will ever be rid of the bitches?
Jessalyn: I hope not. Everyone needs their dark side, otherwise how would we relate to one another!
Cara: What is your favorite episode of Imaginary Bitches?
Jessalyn: I guess I love the first one, “It’s Not Easy making Imaginary Friends”, because before I saw it I couldn’t really understand how Eden and Andrew were going to pull it off. The episode is so confident and Eden is so convincing as she starts to speak for the Bitches. I remember so many of those emotions when I was single and it felt as though everyone had someone and I had so much to say, and reflect on and no one to talk to. When I saw that episode, I knew people would be able to relate to the series.
Cara: Are you working on any other projects?
Jessalyn: I’m working on “Heroes” now as Meredith, Claire’s fire-starting-birth-mother.
Special thanks to Jessalyn for her time!
