Depp, Farrell and Law Donate Earnings to Maitlda Ledger

By Karen | August 18, 2008

Just to prove that Hollywood has a heart Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law have donated their salaries from their new film “The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus” to Heath Ledgers daughter Matilda. The big hearted trio finished Heath’s final film after the 28 year old ledger passed away in January of this year.

“They didn’t take money - it goes to Heath’s daughter,” confirmed The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus director Terry Gilliam. “That’s extraordinary. And wonderful and when you’re part of that, you think, ‘Ah, this is maybe why I went into the movies in the beginning’.”

The heart felt gesture came about over concerns about 2 year old Matilda’s future. Matilda who lives with her mother Michelle Williams was not included in the “Dark Knight”s star’s will. The will was drawn up before she was born. Michelle and Heath met on the set of “Brokeback Mountain” that they starred in together.

It is so nice to see celebrities think of someone other than themselves. This is a very classy thing the three of them have done and I must say I am very impressed. Way to go Johnny, Colin and Jude.

Gotta say, that just goes to show that there is some decency in hollywood. Great to see kindness like this. Hopefully it inspires others to do the same.
