Wired Music: Santogold Does The Clash

santogold.jpg

Santogold (aka Santi White) stole my heart with the 2007 release of her first single “Creator.” After the release of her eponymous first disc, she gained some attention with “L.E.S. Artistes,” but with her recent hook up with M.I.A.’s producer, Diplo, she’s blowing hipster minds.

Diplo and Santogold paired up for Top Ranking, a seventy-five minute mixtape.  The project included a re-make of the classic “Guns of Brixton,” renamed “Guns of Brooklyn” and, although I consider The Clash material sacred, Santogold and Diplo did it right with their dub jam.

The mixtape is out now, and you can check out “Guns of Brooklyn” below.
