Wired Music: Courtney Love Battles Ryan Adams

rocknroll.jpg

Courtney Love seemed to spend much of this month writing illogical Myspace blogs about fellow musicians. Last week, the former Hole frontwoman accused friend and production partner, Billy Corgan, of skipping out on the opportunity to play her daughter’s Sweet Sixteen party. Courtney ranted nonsensically that Billy made Frances Bean cry by not gathering up the Smashing Pumpkins to play the birthday party in August.

The situation was later resolved after Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance “begged” to play the party in place of Billy.

While that matter might be cleared up, at least for now, Courtney started another beef just four days later. Although she later deleted the questionable Myspace blog entry, Courtney oddly accused singer/songwriter Ryan Adams of stealing $858,000 of Frances Bean’s money to fund his 2003 disc, Rock n Roll. Along with the accusation, Courtney compound her craziness when she outed the disc as “one of the worst records i can think of in rock and roll history.” Read her ridiculous rant at the end of the post.

Anyways, critics called Rock n Roll one of Ryan’s best discs so far; it scored four out of five stars from Rolling Stone. The disc featured Courtney’s one-time bassist, Melissa Auf der Maur, Billie Joe from Green Day, and vocals from Ryan’s then-girlfriend, Parker Posey.

Check out my favorite track from Rock n Roll (and the biggest hit from the disc), “So Alive.”

Courtney’s bizarro rant is after the cut.
