New CSS Video – ‘Rat is Dead (Rage)’
By Alyk | July 2, 2008
Brazil’s Cansei de Ser Sexy achieved some major success in 2006. After Sub Pop released “Let’s Make Love and Listen to Death from Above,” every hipster clamored for a song they couldn’t sing from a band who’s name they couldn’t pronounce. Despite the awkward song titles and a foreign name, CSS (as they’re called in the US) gained scads fans in every English-speaking country on the planet after they released a self-titled debut in 2006.
In 2007, Apple featured the single “Music is My Hot Sex” in a worldwide iPod commercial, pushing the tune up the Billboard Hot 100. Over 112 million YouTube viewers clicked on the video, making it the site’s most-viewed clip of all time.
CSS didn’t waste time basking in the success of their first disc; they quickly hit the studio to record the follow up, Donkey, due to be released July 21. Although it featured Lovefoxx’s trademark broken-English, the disc is much more polished than its predecessor. Critics aren’t sure if the new release will live up to expectations, but fans seem to love the first single, “Rat is Dead (Rage).”
CSS released the official video for “Rat is Dead (Rage),” this week and it, too, appeared more refined than previous clips. Check it out and let us know what you think.
Also, for old time’s sake, here’s CSS’s now-famous track, “Music is My Hot Sex.”
