Fran Drescher Elisabeth Hasselbeck Throw Down

By Cara | July 24, 2008

So this tilt-a-whirl of pain started with Jesse Jackson using the “N-word.” Of course the crazy bitches from “The View” had something to say and of course…Elisabeth Hasselbeck cried. So when Joy Behar took over “Larry King Live ” with guest Fran Drescher the subject came up again.

After The Nanny expressed her confusion over why Rainbow Brite was crying over the issue, Elisabeth called in to defend her stance and tears.

What the hell? Is Larry King too cheap to spring for Caller ID? When you see that Hasselbeck is blowin’ up your phone you hide under the table and think happy thoughts until the answering machine cuts her off.

What Others Said:

Taye Diggs- “[Hasselbeck] doesn’t understand, and, no offense — I don’t think any white person has the right to tell a black person or to even weigh in on subject matter such as that,” the Private Practice star said on Thursday. “They don’t know what it’s like to be called that word; they don’t know what it’s like to be black.”

Scrubs star Donald Faison- ““I don’t think Elisabeth Hasselbeck would ever have to worry being called the ‘n-word.’ . . . For her to be offended by it, it’s kind of weird,” he said. “African-Americans have used it now as a term of endearment, or how to describe a situation. So for her to say something like that, she has no idea what power it has over anyone.”

Elisabeth Hasselbeck was offended because she’s a Conservative, and being offended allowed her to criticize Jesse Jackson.

Also I think its pretty stupid if an African American wants to be called a nigger however, and this is the point regardless of your race it should not be offensive. It doesn’t go both ways - you cant says it racist from one side of you mouth and then say but its okay if I am black to say it. I think both Whoopi and Hasselback are idiots.

I personally think that it is absurd that blacks have an issue with the N*word any other time, but that it’s ok if they call each other that. You can’t decide that this word is offensive only “some” of the time. Bottom line is…I don’t care what ethnic background you come from. If the word is spoken outload (yes, even out of the mouth of a black person)and children (of all backgrounds) hear it. Then you are saying that it is ok to use. If you want it to end the use, then blacks need to stop using it all!! Geez! Blacks cry rasism anytime that they do not want to be held accountable! It’s become a tool of convenience in cases where they have done something stupid. They need to give it a rest already!

    Oh please.

Jewish people get to make Jewish jokes, black people get to make black jokes, Latinos get to make Latino jokes. That includes using racial slurs that were once (or are still) used to repress a people. That’s just the way it is in American life today. Why aren’t you ok with that?

Besides, black people had the N word used against them during 400 years of slavery. I think they’re entitled to do whatever they want with that word.

Furthermore, Elizabeth Hasselback should just the fuck up or at least cry harder so that we can’t hear what she’s saying. xD
