“Friends” the Movie

Taking a cue from Sex and the City: the Movie rumors are running rampant about a big Friends reunion…on the big screen no less. Claims of Warner Bros. doing it in 18 months are the loudest. Do you think Friends has the big draw like Sex and the City to carry off a movie? Are you panting to see Courtney Cox 44, Matt LeBlanc 40, Matt Perry 39, Lisa Kudrow 45, David Schwimmer 41 and Jennifer Aniston 39 hitting middle age on the big screen?

‘As the biggest star of the Friends franchise, Jennifer can’t help but look can’t what’s happened with Sarah Jessica Parker and the Sex And The City film and be a little jealous. According to the Daily Mail ‘What’s held back a Friends movie so far is that people were worried that Jennifer had simply become too famous to play Rachel again.
‘But the truth is that Jennifer is finally willing to do it, and she’d love to work with that whole team of actors and producers again.’ Jen says she and Courtney have already talked this summer about what they want out of a Friends movie, and if deals can be made with them, everything else can fall into place rather quickly.

‘It really comes down to money, and I don’t think Jen has a problem with all of the Friends getting huge paydays for the movie.’ In that sense, it’s Sex and the City all over again. There’s no movie unless you can reunite the whole cast and keep them all happy financially.’

Taking into consideration how the careers of the Friends gang are going I think this is a slam dunk that they would all jump at the chance. Just getting a payday for some of these people would be a rare treat. But do we really think that Friends is strong enough to carry an entire movie? I don’t know if I can take the droll dramedy of Ross and Rachel. Would the movie beat a dead horse so to speak….absolutely. Would I be first in line to see the movie….absolutely.

Surely, “Friends,” which was a top rated prime time show for years, has a bigger draw than a niche show on premium cable? And, really, other than “Friends,” Aniston is best known for being formerly married to Brad Pitt.

You know what I am waiting for? Frasier the movie. Friend VS. Sex and the City….hands down Sex and the City. Carrie Bradshaw is like Jesus anymore. Friends was a top rated show, but Sex and the City is like a religon.
