Sarah Jessica Parker and Sex and the City 2.0

Hello, Ms. Parker? Yes, this typecasting calling. How are you today?

Sarah Jessica Parker is continuing the shtick of single girl in New York. After completing “Sex and the Citythe movie, she already has a new job. Parker’s new project “The Ivy Chronicles” is a story of…you guessed it…single girl in New York.

“The actress is in talks with Warner Bros. to star in “The Ivy Chronicles,” a story of class and the single woman in contemporary New York. It centers on Ivy Ames, an Upper East Side woman who, after losing her high-powered job and getting divorced, starts over again in a less ritzy downtown apartment. After pulling her children from private school, Ames starts a business to help upper-middle-class women get their children into elite kindergartens.”

The film is based on a Karen Quinn novel. Which sounds like the “Nanny Diaries” meets “The Devil Wears Prada.” It has been reviewed by Publishers Weekly and the plot sounds beyond familiar.

“Quinn’s characters are unapologetically shallow, two-dimensional cartoons designed to affably lampoon the silliness of New York’s elite, giving readers ample opportunity to snicker at people like a newspaper mogul willing to pay off the FDA to get her demon child into a ‘baby Ivy’ league kindergarten and other wealthy, overly successful parents who use their kids to channel ambition and perpetuate elitism.”

It is like Carrie Bradshaw with babies. Blah.
