Matthew Broderick Opens Mouth and Dumb Falls Out

Where is a PR rep to pull the strings that control Matthew Broderick’s mouth? Smoking is no longer seen as “cool” and has become recognized as a nasty habit. Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick were once chain smokers. If you recall pre-baby days on Sex and the City SJP constantly had a cig in her hand. (You know, the days before she discovered the power of frizz control shampoo.) The proud parents of James have quit their habit, but still give into temptation. Subsequently, their son has already taken interest.
“I used to smoke cigarettes, and I still do, lately. I gave that up a long time ago, but every now and then I will fall off for a week.” And guess who’s fault that might be? Broderick says SJP is “worse than me on that.” And James Wilkie is “already curious. He’ll see a cigarette butt and say, ‘What is that? Why do people smoke?’ I can just see the little budding gene of a smoker in there.”
I may be taking this out of context, but it sounds like he is bragging. I sincerely hope he had a hefty chuckle and followed that sentence with something like, “but seriously, we enforce that it is icky and only dirty bitches like Katherine Heigl smoke now.”
Their son is adorable despite the fact that he may need a haircut. James is a sensitive lad and the word “fat” upsets him. He has banned the word form the Broderick-Parker home. To him, it is worse than any curse word.
Broderick explains, “You’re not even supposed to call people fat according to him. I guess that’s nice because it isn’t a very nice word and he’s very sensitive about it.”
It is really refreshing to hear a kid be so sensitive and wise at the age of 5. Let’s just hope he remembers that when he has grown up and rolling in sweet, sweet Ferris Bueller cash.

Meh. Smoking kills, but so do cars, germs, hospitals, and pretty much everything you can imagine. Growing up in Hollywood, chances are Lil’ Ferris will end up hooked on something much worse anyway.
