David Cook Wins American Idol

By Allie | May 22, 2008

And the heavens shine down the light of a miracle! I was stunned to hear David Cook’s name read out as the winner of the Archuleta dominated American Idol. Lets face it, the kid was just too young and was like Bambi in the Hollywood scene. He would have been eaten alive.

Both Davids were deserving of the title. Cook with his deep rocker voice was the clear choice but Archuleta was loveable and PC to the point of being sickeningly sweet. The show played on both their talents and was a welcome change from Tuesday’s over the top mess. It was like a high school musical. Last night however had some redeeming qualities.

ZZ Top accompanied Cook, Seal sang with Syesha , while the cast off idol wannabes did several songs together reminiscent of the previous night’s bomb.

Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks also returned to the stage that made them famous. The night ended with George Michael boring us to sleep. Finally after the nap during George’s performance we had our winner. However, to me the highlight was David Cook’s reenactment of the famous risky business scene turned commercial for Guitar Hero.

Now we can all wait in anticipation for next season and hope that little David Archuleta won’t be punished by crazy stage dad Jeff Archuleta.

Here’s a special treat, AOL Music’s PopEater has the exclusive premiere of David’s song ‘The Time of My Life‘. Listen to it HERE.
