J.K. Rowling Crumbling During Trial
J.K. Rowling was fighting off tears Monday in federal court in Manhattan. Rowling is facing off against Steve Vander Ark, who claims to be a long time fan with RDR Books. Vander Ark who runs a Harry Potter web site wants to publish an unauthorized Harry Potter encyclopedia. Rowling says she is working on her own encyclopedia to be published in 2-3 years. She states that she wouldn’t have the “will or the heart to continue with my encyclopedia.”
“I really don’t want to cry because I’m British, you know,” she said. “You know, these books, they saved me, not just in the very obvious material sense, although they did do that…I would have to say that there was a time when they saved my sanity.”
Warner Bros and Rowling claim that a print version, if sold, would amount to 17 years of hard work stolen. This is just another person stealing someone else’s ideas and work. As a Harry Potter fan this ticks me off. Yes the woman has more money than God. So what! She earned it by working for it! Rowling plans to give the encyclopedia profits to charity. What are your plans Steve-o? Get an original idea and keep your sticker fingers off everyone else’s!

People write compilation. annotations and interpretative books all the time. Do a google search on one of the classics Huck Finn, or The Great Gatsby. There are hundreds of books of all types of critical analysis written on eah of these book and that is just what this man is doing with his “encyclopedia”, a critical analysis. Get used to it MS Rowling! You’re acting like a child!! Your a billionaire!
