American Idol contestant David Cook took a trip to the hospital for heart palpitation right after last night’s show. He bravely finished out the taping and then had a friend drive him to the hospital. He was treated by a private doctor and released. The doctor gave Cook medication to settle his high blood pressure and will monitor Cook again on Tuesday.

He sang “Little Sparrow” for Dolly Parton night. His blood pressure was soaring and it wasn’t due to nerves. Medics on the show begged him to leave during taping, but he wanted to stay until the end.

Executives for the show have pointed the finger stress. His brother, who is battling cancer, is not doing well and has David worried. During the taping of an earlier episode he passed out and didn’t think he could perform. At the last minute he changed his mind and went on with his performance.

The rest of the AI contestants got to sit around and enjoy Jordin Sparks, past Idol winner and R&B singer Chris Brown play their new single No Air. This was taped and will be shown at a later date, so no you did not miss it. Currently he is back with the other contestants after being treated for high blood pressure.
