Simon Cowell Gave $162,000 to Cancer Patient
By Cara | March 18, 2008
Either Simon Cowell really does have a heart or this is PR genius. On Oprah Winfrey’s Big Give show on Monday, the snide American Idol judge actually showed that blood may flow through his veins instead of crude oil and hair gel.
“It’s a very basic story of a normal family whose daughter got very ill, and they had some financial problems which was relatively easy for me to sort out, I never knew that doing good could feel so good.”
Madelaine was diagnosed with cancer and had to receive daily treatments for her condition. They drove over 100 miles every day in order to get her the treatments to save her life. The 3 year old parents used the money to pay off their mortgage.
Simon also admitted that he does do nice things for people, he just prefers to do them privately. However, during an uncut version of the interview with Extra, he cut off a question by shaking his head in the middle of his questioner’s sentence.
“Why was it Madelaine’s story that touched you particularly? Because you were given….”
(Simon shakes head and looks to his left)
“No…no…do that? Ok…” she recomposes and starts again “What was it that touched you about Madeliane’s story?”
Something sounds a bit fishy to me. The interview can be seen HERE.
