Drew Barrymore Donates 1 Million Dollars on Oprah

Drew Barrymore donated one million dollars to the United Nations World Food Program to aid hungry children in Africa. Barrymore made the announcement on yesterday’s episode of Oprah.
Drew told Oprah:
“I have seen with my own eyes what a difference a simple cup of nutritious porridge can make in a child’s life. It helps them learn, stay healthy and sets them on track for a bright future.”
Barrymore was named as a U.N. Ambassador Against Hunger last year following two trips to Kenya in which she has worked with the organization.

I saw the show on Monday. It wasn’t just about the donation. There was also some promoting going on for the magazine, tv show, make-up, and movies. Why should the company or celebrity buy time for a commercial when they can just make a donation and get time with Oprah? It was sort of a tax deductable ommercial for Drew and Oprah’s stuff as well. C’mon people. Don’t be so naive.
