2008 Screen Actors Guild Awards- Mega Pictures
By Cara | January 28, 2008
The Screen Actors Guild Awards aired last night in what has been a lackluster award season. The writers strike has resulted in the lack of red carpet events this year, but the SAG awards went on. Finally actresses were able to air out some couture while the men reluctantly attempted to suit up in style.
However one accessory that couldn’t be ignored was a few black ribbons that adorned the chests of those in mourning. Heath Ledger’s absence was a factor that couldn’t be ignored. Daniel Day-Lewis dedicated his award as Best Actor to him and begged for his family to be left alone. Protestors also showed up at the Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium. They carried signs with cruel anti-gay slogans in protest to his involvement in “Brokeback Mountain.” (Why they picked a moment of grief to air out their ignorant and unnecessary opinions is beyond me.) Stars ignored the dribble of the hypocrites and went on to honor Heath as he deserves.
In spirit of moving on and keeping things on an upbeat path, the SAG awards also brought more to media hungry world. Angelina Jolie wore a hideous brown tulle dress that gave her the appearance of a giant moth. It also sparked rumors that she is knocked up. She has reportedly been trying to get Brad to impregnate her for months. Perhaps she has succeeded in her endeavor to bring more giant lipped children into the world. I am calling BS on this one. Angie choose an extremely unflattering dress…end of story.
