Jon Travolta Cut From Dallas Movie

By Cara | December 17, 2007

The would be shoulder pad heavy film “Dallas” isn’t exactly taking off. The script has been altered and the cast has yet to be finalized. Earlier this month John Travolta expressed concerns over the plot after it had taken an odd approach over the original tv series.

“They had a script, but it wasn’t quite Dallas yet. It was a fun script, but it was a different movie. It is more of a spoof on the idea of Dallas. It takes place in present time in Saudi Arabia, with a minimal amount of other Ewings. I’m not sure how it will all unfold.”

The theatrical version of the ‘80s CBS soap sounds more like the “Scary Movie” spoofs take on the classic tales of the Ewings. Furthering the downfall of the film’s premise, Travolta has been replaced. The rumor mill is grinding out that the possible replacement, in the role of J.R. Ewing, will be Ben Stiller. Reps for Stiller are on the fence and refuse to confirm or deny his part in the movie.

“Dallas” has been in the works for over two years now. Luke Wilson, Jennifer Lopez and Meg Ryan have all had their names attached to pic, but none are actually signed. Travolta appears to have gotten off the boat just in time. Some say he was offered a “seven figure gift” to walk away from the project. Others state he simply isn’t going to be a part of it anymore.

Oh, this is very damning for any chances the movie might have had. They might as well have a couple of poodles wearing tutus and jumping through fiery hoops for a cookie.
