WTF, Sprint?
By Consuela B. | October 12, 2007
So Beyonce has got herself her very own phone, called the “B’Phone”. It’s made by Samsung and available only on Sprint. And that’s why Sprint is awarded the WTF Moment of the Day.
First of all, who’s going to buy Beyonce’s damn phone? It was bad enough when U2 made it’s own iPod. Why would I want this phone over any of the other thousands of options available? Apparently it comes with a song Beyonce recorded when she was little, but why is that going to be good?
Beyonce told Billboard,
“When I was 10, I recorded a song called ‘632-5792′ — a phone number. It’s a little embarrassing but it’s cute. There’s a recording of that song on the phone exclusively for my fans. I wanted to make sure people got a feel for who I really am. It’s only through this phone that you can get this close to my life.”
Second of all, is this Sprint’s attempt at answering AT&T’s exclusive service on the iPhone? Because that’s just a bad idea all around. Beyonce cannot compete with the iPhone.
And finally, Sprint is getting this WTF instead of Beyonce because they’re paying her for the stupid thing. You can’t blame Beyonce for saying yes when asked, “so we’re going to name this phone after you and you might look like an idiot but you’ll make lots of money - are you in?” This is just what celebrities do. So, I blame Sprint. Seriously, WTF?
