Anne Hathaway Charity Could Be In Trouble

By Consuela B. | June 19, 2007

Anne Hathaway has done a lot of charity work in various places, including Nicaragua and Honduras, with the organization Follieri Foundation. The foundation was established by Anne’s boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, and Anne is a board member. But all may not be what it seems at the charity organization.

“…a prominent Californian investor accuses Mr Follieri of “wilfully and systematically misappropriating” at least $1.5 million intended for a joint property venture. The lawsuit alleges part of the money was improperly loaned to the Follieri Foundation, of which Hathaway is a board member. According to legal records, Mr Follieri also lavished hundreds of thousands of dollars on private jets for himself and Hathaway, on a penthouse apartment in New York and at five-star hotels and restaurants.”

Weren’t they around when all the white collar guys were going to jail for embezzlement? Come on, Anne, you have to be smarter than that! Although celebrity crime has a way of making you even more famous, so there will eventually be an upside I’m sure. I’m just not convinced that the potential jail time, should these allegations be true, is worth the increase in fame.
