Backstreet Boy Calls It Quits
Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson has quit the band.
“It was a very tough decision for me but one that was necessary in order to move on with the next chapter of my life,” the 33-year-old singer said on the group’s Web site.
The remaining four members — Nick Carter, A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell and Howie Dorough — said they weren’t looking to replace Richardson, but that he was welcome to return at any point. “We wish him the best in all his future endeavors,” the group said.
This isn’t the first obstacle for the Backstreet Boys. The band postponed their Black & Blue tour in 2001 due to McClean’s entry into rehab. The Boys later regrouped and released their latest album, ‘Never Gone,’ last year.
The now quartet is scheduled to enter the studio this weekend to begin work on a new album due later this year.
